Policy on meetings and engagement with community v. 1.2

Arnarlax has prepared a community meeting policy to ensure meaningful consultation with local community can take place.

  • Arnarlax will hold a community meeting once a year either with open house visits to a site or community meeting. The company has defined its community as inhabitants and government officials in Vesturbyggð, Ölfus and Grímsnes- and Grafningshreppur, along with representatives of companies and other stakeholders in the areas where Arnarlax operates.
  • Arnarlax will also hold a meeting if the operation or operating methods will change or if the company operation is likely to affect stakeholder in the operating area.
  • Arnarlax will advertise the open house or community meeting with 5-10 day notice with posters on social medial, emails and by phone if necessary.  All identified stakeholders should receive a invitation.
  • The meeting will take place in the community and the venue will be accessible by disabled people. There will be an opening presentation from Arnarlax representatives and guests can ask those representatives questions after the opening.

  • In the event of treatment needed on fish - Arnarlax will inform about the treatment and potential health risks directly to community mayors and in News sector on www.arnarlax.is 

  • The meeting will be documented by Arnarlax representative via notes and/or video recordings. Arnarlax will take notes and document all questions, comments and answers.

  • No more than two weeks after the meeting, Arnarlax will finish meeting minutes that will include issues that need to be addressed (according to template).  Report will be sent out to managers and team leaders to address possible issues that need to be solved or addressed according to Arnarlax  Meðhöndlun utanaðkomandi kvartana og athugasemda (Conflict resolution policy) (Not available)
